You know that last interview could have gone better.

You really CAN do the job! But you didn’t present your skills very well. That wasn’t a great first impression.

You get stuck in thought loops…what are they actually looking for in this answer? Is it good enough? (And deeper down, there are whispers of…what if I’m not _____ enough). And you feel the pressure because a lot is riding on this.

Guess what? It makes sense that your words didn’t fall perfectly out of your mouth the first time! Seriously. None of us speak like this in our day-to-day conversations. We’re not used to it. The format of an interview is totally unique. Think about it, when else are you in a conversation where…

  • You have to sell yourself, but not so much that you sound like an arrogant a-hole.

  • You won’t have another shot.

  • You’re expected to condense your entire professional identity AND prove you’re the best person for the job in exactly 30-minutes.

  • It feels like one-sided JUDGEMENT. You’re asked to reveal everything to them, but they don’t have to do the same.

These are simply not the parameters in which the majority of our conversations happen in life!

So it makes total sense that you need practice, support, honest feedback, and tactical help crafting solid responses from an expert, (plus empathetic best-friend-level support to sort through those thoughts that are running through the back of your mind undermining your confidence).

You want to do it right this time so you don’t have to show up to that same environment you’re in now next week, next month, next year. You’re ready for a change.

You want that position that will appreciate and recognize your ideas, experiences, and skills. It is crucial for you to be a part of a team that actively listens and values your input. And, a higher salary would be nice too.

This happens by:

1) Crafting key messages like a marketer (I spent 10 years helping Fortune 500 companies optimize their marketing, so this is how my brain works!) We create short, clear, benefit-driven messages that are highly relevant to their needs. We identify what you want them to walk away knowing. Get clear on what your UNIQUE value proposition is and repeat it using memorable storytelling that sticks in your interviewer’s mind.

We also work through the tricky questions so you’re not caught off-guard.

You’re not just memorizing answers to a few questions for a single job.

You’re getting the foundational strategies that connect your skills/background/personality to what THEY want.

2) Practicing in a ‘live’ scenario. Practicing answers to job interview questions, and practicing the little in-between ways to build likeability and trust. A dress rehearsal on a real stage before the performance.

The art of interviewing includes being able to being able to be present, and to actually believe you’d be great in the role. How do you get that confidence? With mindset work.

3) Getting your thoughts in the right place so confidence naturally emanates out. Do you want to not only give incredible answers to interview questions but deliver those answers with an underlying confidence that, let’s be honest, is the secret sauce to getting the offer?

In a mindset session, you choose the topic - maybe you want to get more comfortable with hte idea of negotiating your salary, maybe you’re still processing some feelings after being laid-off, maybe you tend to shrink when you’re in a room full of white males and you want to remind yourself of your authority and value, maybe you want help thinking through why you REALLY would be good for this role (even when you don’t have all of the qualifications), whatever it is, you have a supportive, no-judgement zone space to help you gain more awareness, or create personalized strategies.  These underlying beliefs are the game-changer in shifting how you show up, how you’re willing to communicate clearly about your skills, and have lasting effects, beyond your next interview.

Explore how to change thoughts and beliefs that aren’t serving you through interview mindset coaching so you can walk into your next interview with confidence and walk out knowing you OWNED it!

  • Identify 3-5 things you want them to walk away knowing about you and learn how to weave these into nearly any answer

  • Hone stories from your experience to demonstrate key skills, background, or personality traits.

  • Strategize on how to talk about the skills, experiences, or software you’re not familiar with

  • Develop an initial salary negotiation strategy

Practice interviewing in a no-judgment zone! Feel the words come out of your mouth as you answer potential interview questions specific to your industry and role. If you have an upcoming interview we’ll use that exact job description to prepare.

I’m here to help you craft the best answers and deliver them in a way that feels like YOU. I’ll provide practical, honest recommendations on how to improve your answer content, your body language and your delivery.

This session can be tailored to represent a specific stage in the interview process such as as a first call with a recruiter, a 2nd interview with a hiring manager, or a panel style interview.

  • More Detail: What Happens in a Mindset Session

1.The Opening:  When we first meet, either on the phone, or video call, we’ll spend a few minutes catching up and reconnecting.

    2. Setting the Agenda: Since you are always in charge of the coaching conversation, I’ll ask you what you want to focus on, work on, or explore.  Then I’ll ask you what you want to get out of the call or what you want to achieve by the end of our meeting.  I know that right now this may seem like a strange question, but it assists us in knowing what you want to accomplish by the end of our time together for that particular meeting.  What will be useful for you?  As examples, clients have told me they would like to get clarity about a certain topic, or they want to create a strategy, or they want to create steps to take to move forward or that a topic has been mulling about in their heads and they want to see what emerges from exploring it.  So, what do you want to take from this particular meeting? Again, this is entirely up to you.

Once we’re absolutely clear about the topic and what you want to take from the meeting, we’ll move to the next phase…

    3. Exploring, Discovering and Analyzing: This next part of a mindset coaching meeting is where you’ll let me know about the current reality of the particular topic, such as, ‘what’s it like right now?’ and then you’ll let me know how you’d like it to be or what your vision may be about your topic.  Then we’ll take a deeper look at the whole topic and your desires, exploring things like the pros and cons, how your life might be different if you pursued what you want, how your life would be if you didn’t go for what you want, etc.  Throughout the coaching I’ll be asking you questions and making observations about what I’m noticing or picking up on.  I’ll also be glad to share any insights, thoughts, ideas or other perceptions that come up for me as we go along, if you’d like. Throughout this process you’ll get clearer or gain awareness about what you want, as well as how it fits with who you are.  Throughout our coaching relationship, I do ask that you be honest. I also request that if I ever say anything that’s not accurate or doesn’t seem right to you that you correct me because I always want to be on the same page with you and understand you fully.

    4. Next Steps:  About 5-10 minutes before the end of the meeting, I’ll ask you some questions about how you might want to move forward with what you’ve discovered during our time together…some possible things you could do to take your discoveries forward or to the next level.  If necessary, we can do some brainstorming around this.  Then I’ll ask you for several specific steps you will take to move forward.  We’ll work together to ensure that these steps are things you actually want to do.  It’s been shown that unless you really want to do what you say you’ll do, it’s likely it will not get done. So, I want you to choose steps that you will do because you want to do them and because they will move you closer to your desired outcome.  Then I’ll ask some questions about what support you might like so you can be successful in taking the steps you’ve chosen to do, and what you’ve learned or are taking from our meeting.

    5. Wrap-Up:  At the very end I’ll most likely make a summary statement of what’s been accomplished during the coaching meeting.
